Buy a Yagala box from No. 1 Excursions in El Medano (Peter Anthony).  He  will get a good deal on a mobile for you and then you are set up with wifi tv and phone, very much cheaper than anywhere else. 00 34 693 807 279  He will explain how it all works. Very helpful chap.  Is English and speaks Spanish.

What is a Yagala box and why should anyone go to a excursion specialist to arrange a phone?

Ah, a Yagala Box is a small box that you connect to the internet, pay a licence fee, then you get all the channels - you could google it.  You pay to buy it, approx 50E as a one off and 75E per year subscription for the licence. We could have paid an extra 10E p.m. for a mobile phone but we didn't chose to do that.  We pay about 26E per month to the internet provider.

Yes it is does sound a bit strange to go to an excursion company, but Peter Anthony's company, No. 1 Excursions is a small company run by him and there is no end to his "fixer" talents - i.e. apart from all the tours on the island, he can get  hire cars, PCR tests, lateral flow tests and more.  He enjoys being an all round fixer for tourists and locals and has been very helpful to my husband and I with a wide variety of things.  Just thought telling you all this might help you, as it did us.
