Las Galletas - My Biggest Regret was Leaving
Over the past few days I have been doing a little reminiscing and Las Galletas is at the chore of one of my biggest regrets. They say you shouldn't regret anything but I don't believe that's true as leaving Las Galletas makes sure that it stays stuck in my mind and I like to visit virtually once in a while. (google earth)
But Why Regret?
Well Approx 1982 I got a job at Drago Terrace, Las Galletas as a drummer. Myself and the keyboard player used to back a cabaret act most nights by the side of the pool on a portable stage, it was completely awesome. I was 18 at the time and left my girlfriend behind who I missed terrible after about 3 months in TenBel.
And so.... I decided to leave and go home to be with my girlfriend. As I waited at the airport in Tenerife the people I had been working with said "If you ever want to return just give us a call".
I arrived home after landing in Manchester to a black horrible sky and my error hit me like a tonne of bricks. I got a job and within the month my girlfriend dumped me......
I was on the phone about a month later hoping Las Galllitas would still be there... The staff told me that the entertainment staff had left for Bermuda as they had taken a cruise for the winter.
Needles to say I was gutted... in more ways than one.
And today, I still feel the regret of leaving but always have an awesome feeling about Tenerife. I have planned to go on holiday there but never gotten around to it.
Maybe one day I can revisit the old wound and heal it. Here's hoping.
Well there's my Tenerife sob story... "he says gutted still" lol. Have a good one Las Galettians and get ready, I'm on my way.
