Is Piedra Hincada a good place for a permanent home to retire to from UK?

We are thinking of a move to Tenerife and in searching for property, found lovely looking house in Piedra Hincada. Although this house will be long gone by the time we get anywhere near moving, I have walked around the area on Google Earth and it looks very nice. We don't want the mad tourist bars but somewhere where something is going on and with a British ex-pat community to feel part of.

We have owned and let out a residential apartment in Chayofa for many years but would be looking at a larger property for a permanent move. Any advise would be welcome.

Sorry my previous reply was sent before I'd finished. El medano is a medium sized town, on the coast. It has shops, bars, restaurants. Great beaches. Lively with locals, brits, Germans and other nationalities but mostly Spanish, I would say. It can be windy but not all the time and the breeze does keep you cool. Great views of Gran Canaria. Great town.

Thanks for this information. I have been to El Medano before and it does seem a nice area. Our only concern is the proximity to the Airport and plane flight paths going overhead.

We have had an apartment that has been residentially let in Chayofa for many years and quite like being away from the tourist areas so was looking at other similar areas. Piedra Hincada appeared to be nicely tucked away but not too far from civilisation.

It seems to be a very long way off yet, if at all, but I really appreciate your input.

Yes it does have planes going over but depending where you are the sound can be minimal. All the best.
