Advice on best places to buy and work in Tenerife

My partner and I are looking at relocating to Tenerife and just wanted advice as to where the best locations to live in would be..we were thinking of Santa Cruz initially but we are willing to find a place anywhere else. My partner is a floor layer/decorater/tiler and also does graphic design. I'm a qualified swimming teacher. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
