There are new ticket machines as you go into Mahon hospital. The normal ones for taking a ticket for waiting to make next appointment and new ones where you check in with your hospital or nie number, make sure you check in at the correct machine. When you arrive at the department you need to be your number shall be shown up and also a tannoy shall call your number.

I found it very confusing as I had handed my papers to nurse in Cardiology and then she told me to get a ticket, I thought it was for another appointment because as usual, the waiting area was full, I seen another expat who was having  the same difficulty and like me when we were trying to log in both our spouses were shouting they are calling your name!!

That night I got an sms at 9 pm to say I had an appointment for the one I had attended that morning, with same date same time same department!!

Please be prepared to check in and get your ticket for next appointment if you think it is necessery

They won't let you in until 15 minutes before your appointment to save overcrowding.

You put your appointment paper next to machine small window, and it reads your details.  You can also use your blue card.  The machine will spit out details of where you go and gives you a number. Keep that ticket.   When you get to the waiting area for your appointment, you watch the big screen and wait for the number you received to come up  Then your turn is up and go to the room indicated.

There is often someone near the machines to help you.  If you look confused someone helps you.

Dont expect a nurse to come and fetch you now.  You have to go to the appropriate door.

ve noticed recently you do not always receive an SMS reminder for a hospital appointment so keep checking your calendar so you don't miss your appointment

Hope this helps

What is going on with the new Las Chafiras health centre.  Has the building started, has it started or money run out?
