Getting rud of ants

I turn the light on in the kitchen first thing in the morning and find a lot of what I think are very tiny ants around the top of the sink unit, how do I get rid of them ?
I had success after using the small green sachets of cockroach powder that I bought for 50 cents each in one of the Chinese shops.
I sprinkled it on paper and placed it under the fridge and washing machine.

There is a "injection" type liquid which you dot on most likely places the main ant takes it back to other ants and kills them a bit like "Nippon used to work" you can only buy from Ferreterias @ 3.90 but certainly works.
I do not have the name to hand but Ferreterias know what you mean, I am not sure about animal safety.

Are you sure they are ants?
Sounds to me could be termites?
